Europa

It was mentioned in the anime. (Mushroom Samba, Black Dog Serenade) I've pushed for it in the past. --Funf 02:19, 28 January 2006 (CST)

  • As I posted in the Europa talk page, it was their target, but when they were hit by Domino Walker, they crash landed on Io. Europa is constantly mentioned as having the kind of stuff you'd expect on mars, so I picture it as a more industrialized planet. :P --Tiak 16:37, 28 January 2006 (CST)

What would be done with Europa, anything specific? Or just a Mars lookalike? Ideas for making it would help. --Benvern 20:39, 3 February 2006 (CST)

I envision it as a kind of dark, slummy urban cyberpunk type of area, but then again, since it wasn't in the show, I don't have any real way of knowing. Perhaps Lidia would know, with all of her Chinese Manga knowledge. --Shaikoten 07:59, 6 February 2006 (CST)

  • I think it would be awesome to have Europa look kind of like a high-tech Venetian city. I mean, there is no set standard for the look of Europa, so why not make it your own? --Meia 5:14, 6 February 2006 (PST)
You certainly are a fan of the water. Ganymede is the place that's supposed to look Venetian, although it wasn't exactly conveyed as such in Gatz's version. I could have sworn hearing somewhere that Europa was somewhat urban. I kind of always associate Europa to the version from the old game FLASHBACK, if anyone has played that. Very tech oriented. --Shaikoten 08:33, 7 February 2006 (CST)

I got some info from the manga (through Lidia) and put up a Europa page. --Funf 05:43, 4 March 2006 (CST)

Expanding Io

Io could get some more variety. I just seems like one isolated portion of a much bigger landscape is available and Vector seems like a rough accumulation of quests and not much else. --Funf 02:19, 28 January 2006 (CST)

Expanding Ganymede

Ganymede has the highway going east that ends abruptly. Another city or landscape area could fit snugly here. Something similar to an interlink could be put in to give the illusion of distance. If you have a map, La Finn and Carson could show up as well. Possibly make it connect to Carson as well. The subway wouldn't have to modified. The best idea yet would be to install an entire highway system. Possibly having islands and stuff (Since most of Ganymede is covered in water). --Funf 02:19, 28 January 2006 (CST)

Asteroid Colonies

More could definetly be done with the asteroid belt. I can imagine a Vector like mining colony. I think Vier was once working on this a while ago. Maybe we could bring this back. Also, Habitat-E could have a quest/other stuff area added using Bohemian Rhapsody as the basis. --Funf 02:20, 28 January 2006 (CST)

  • Don't forget TJ/Tijuana, featured in the first episode of bebop. --Tiak 16:34, 28 January 2006 (CST)

Neptune

  • It would be nice to have Neptune in. We all know the planet is in existence, and it opens up possibilities to make the MUD much more unique, adding our own views and twists to the Bebop world. It's not really mentioned in the series, but we can only guestimate that if Venus can be inhabited, and Pluto, even, then of course Neptune can. In my own view, I'd love to see Neptune become the newest Resort and Vacation area, with maybe even a casino or something. I remember the Casino from Hard Luck Woman, and that would be a cool setting, cause then the chance to win Wulongs would be present, which would definately make things more interesting. Not to mention the beaches. Venus may have beaches, but Neptune could be the total water planet, and the beaches could totally outshine Venus'. Plus, there wouldn't be some silly plague that will kill you on Neptune... but the hardest part would be getting a ship out there. It should be roughly the same distance as Pluto, but slightly shorter. That way people can't just use Neptune to easily get to Pluto, ya know? That's really all I can think of. --Meia 06:35, 3 February 2006 (PST)

well this place sounds allot like venus with its 2 major points beaches and casino being on venus so u might want to develop a more rounded area that can be like a caribian resort / cruises with local markets and kiosks

  • Okay, after a bit of re-thinking, I've redesigned what I think of Neptune. I had the weirdest dream where I was walking through some ruins that looked alot like Atlantis, and then it hit me: Neptune is supposedly the "water planet", so why not have it look like ruins, with shops and stuff set up in them. It could have an Athenian/Atlantis kind of look to it, and it can be a good outpost. --Meia 17:24, 6 February 2006 (PST)
  • Really hate to rain on your parade, but Neptune is a gas planet. Venus has a think atmosphere and lots of volcanic activity, but is very Earth like underneath. Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune, and Uranus are all Gas planets and have no surface to speak of. Humans are only able to settle on the moons of those planets such as Titan and Jupiter's four Gallilaen Moons (Io, Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto in order of proximity to Jupiter) because they aren't just balls of gas with ever increasing pressure. --Funf 21:52, 9 February 2006 (CST)
  • Oh Funfy, how you burst me! Alright, so you're right that they are gas planets. So how about this: Neptune has 8 moons. Largest of the 8 moons is Triton. Instead of having Neptune be the planet you can go to, you could jsut go to Triton, the largest of the 8 moons. And if not Triton, then Nereid, third largest. And I still stand by my Atlantian/Athenian look. --Meia 11:40, 10 February 2006 (PST)

Cyberspace

I mentioned this to Spike earlier today. You remember Brain Scratch? What if there was an area that was only accessable through a video game console thingy? It would kinda be like a virtual world. I was thinking of this as a building idea, but it might be able to get some code support.

One quick concept for it: You fire up the machine and this leaves all of your equipment behind. You get sent to a different area with its own quests that you can meet people and stuff. It would be nice if all the items/eq there was temporary. So, you'd log in (leaving your eq behind to be stolen ic irl) and find some eq there and battle some guys for combat xp. Do some quests for other stuff. This would mostly be xp quests. Possibly 'virtual' money to buy stuff there. When they 'log out' they are force to drop all their virtual stuff and virtual money in a random holding room where it will rot and they are transed back. You might need a fixed cyber cafe or other wise it wouldn't know where to send you back to. Natuarally, the whole leave your 'real' stuff behind concept has the flaw of getting jacked in a public place. Anyway, these are some of my thoughts on it. --Funf 22:17, 9 February 2006 (CST)

Well, what you could just do is use laptops. All that you would have to worry about is finding a safe place (apartments). So then you could log in on laptops or kiosks. Then as far as logging out of the 'ic virtual' it would function just like the MUD, when you log in it puts you in, but when you log out it saves your items stats, etc. into a pfile of sorts, but when you log into the ic virtual world you can only have one login name. Just something to think about. --Strife 11:34, 27 February 2006 (EST)

With Funf's assistance I have been working on thinking up a simpler adaptation of this idea. The way I envision it is more of a "gamelike" atmosphere, almost remeniscient of a First Person Shooter setup. Basically, everyone would have the same stats, skills, etc. when they log onto a "game server," and could perhaps choose weapons for fighting with. To start off, there might be one game mode, a Free For All "deathmatch," in which there are spawn points. When a character's virtual "avatar" dies in-game, they respawn at a random position in the map. Each kill gains a point, and the person with the most points at the end of the game wins.

It is possible to do this sort of implementation with mostly building progs, though there are plenty of potential snags along the way. This would provide a large amount of flexibility in terms of areas and games, however.

In terms of removal from the real world, I don't think it's wise for something like this to allow for hiding from In Character issues. I think it's wisest to allow for outside disruption of games. I know when I have a bounty on my head, the last thing I'm going to do is fire up a game of Doom, y'know? --Shaikoten 14:29, 27 February 2006 (CST)
